It was an honour and a pleasure to host Dr Sasha Grishin last night at the opening of Sue Pickford’s exhibition, “Mythologies Icons & Archetypes”.
A large crowd of invited guests mingled with the artist who had strong support from her family and friends. Many local identities also dropped by to view the detailed and extraordinary works by the artist. The stand out piece for most art aficionados were the four panels depicting the labours of Hercules. This work consisting of four panels, each measuring 100 x 67 cm could itself be called a Herculean effort as it has taken the artist several years to execute.
On a less grand scale but just as intricately detailed and painstakingly executed are the six works that form the Dance Dance while you may …series; one of which was the winner of the inaugural Diversity in Print Award from the Royal Queensland Art Society.
Sue Pickford exhibition continues until 11 April at Bosz Gallery 9 Doggett St Fortitude Valley.
