Wood Land Log

Glenda Orr
5 - To 17 July 2016

Wood Land Log celebrates the beauty and complexity of woodland ecosystems, in particular, the Bimblebox Nature Refuge of central Queensland while also exploring how the filters of science, art and commerce skew the way we see, value and interact with them.

Through her sculptural installations, fine art prints, photography and drawings, Orr visually disrupts the organic indexical representation of “nature” with the repeated straight lines of the frame, graph or grid to consider the insidious nature of human intervention into ”nature”. With a focus on close inspection and repetitive logging of the natural components of Bimblebox, Orr honours the rigor of science to quantify “nature” while she laments science’s limits to stem its loss.
